Marina
is a little place and a port located in the Marina bay, 12 km westward
from Trogir. The Marina area is mentioned under the name of Bosolji in
the 13th century, In the beginning of the 16th century the bischop of
Trogir built a citadel there to serve as a defense from the Turks. The
main gate with a coat of arms is preserved, just like the Renaissance
tower. The coast is divided by numerous bays with sandy and pebble
beaches. There are several restaurants and tavern where guests can
taste Dalmatian sprecialities, fresh fish and quality wines. There is
also a post office, a bank, a market place, caffe bars and stores.
Sports and recreation lovers can enjoy in sailing, recreational
fishing, diving, boat renting or pedaline renting. For boaters there is
the Agana Marina with 140 berths and 100 shore storage places. Marina
is well-connected to some famous tourist destinations: Rogoznica is 10
km distant, Primosten, one of the most picturesqe places of the
Adriatic only 15 km, "the city-museum" Trogir 15 km, the historical
town Sibenik 45 km, Split (Diocletian's Palace) and antique Salona 45
km, Krka National Park 50 km.
