Drasnice
is picturesque small village situated in the Makarska Riviera, around
10 km from the city of Makarska. The locals people are engaged in
agriculture, fishing, olive tree and vine cultivation. Along the coast
there is a number of pretty small pebble beaches. The village itself is
mentioned for first time in the Turkish document dated from 1523, at
the same time when the St. George's church was built. In the 18th
century the church gets its Baroque features, afterwards it was ruined
by the earthquake. Today there is a new church built on some of the
ruined church parts. Above the village there is the Gothic church of
St. Stephen. The Roman inscription, dating from the 2nd century was
found there. This small place is suitable for guests desiring tranquil
and cousy family vacation with sunbathing on beautifull pebble beaches
and swimming in the crystal, clear sea.
Drasnice are also an ideal
start point for numerous and interesting excursions to nearby places:
Makarska, natural park Biokovo, Brela, Omis and the river Cetina
rafting, Split, Dubrovnik, Medugorje, islands of Brac and Hvar.
