Baska
voda is a well known tourist destination situated in the heart of
Dalmatia, at the foot of Biokovo mountain on the western part of
Makarska riviera, just 10 km from the city of Makarska. Beautifull
nature, long white pebble beaches, crystal clear and warm sea is what
makes this place popular destination. The locals are engaged in
tourism, fishing, and in vine, cherry and fig cultivation. The village
was inhabitated already in the Roman Age which left many dig sites to
testify. Over the village, on the Gradina hill there are the traces of
previous settlements and Bisantian fortress. Aside for those dig
places there is the church of St. Lawrence (from 1750) and St.
Nicholas (from 1889) – two beautiful examples of Dalmatian rural
archtecture, malakoloski and etnographic museum. The tourist offer is
abundant and diverse, the village can offer hotels, camps, villas,
private rooms and apartments, restaurants, caffes, ’konobas’ and pastry
shops. There are also different shops, a bank, an excange office, a
post office, an ambulance and a pharmacy. Sport and recreational
amusemnets are also numerous: football, handball, tennis, table tennis,
mini golf, hiking, fishing, sailing, diving... The
cultural-entertainment life is rather rich with traditionally organised
