Sutivan
(Stivan) is a peaceful seaside town on the northern coast of the island
of Brač. It is 7 kilometers away from Supetar, the main ferryboat port.
The town is marked by beautiful pebbled beaches and lovely promenades
and parks.
The beaches of Sutivan have gained a reputation for their
extraordinary beauty, beginning with those in the town (like Bunta
beach). Taking a walk westward one can come across twenty unique bays
and beaches where, even in the peak of the season, you can bask in
tranquility and enjoy a swim in the crystal clean sea.
Sutivan
offers a large number of catering establishments, bars, taverns and
restaurants. The port is suitable for smaller yachts to moor, while
larger yachts may need to find moorings outside the port. Numerous
monuments and events along with sports facilities make Sutivan an
attractive destination for sports and cultural tourism and also for an
active vacation.
Foundations and fragments of the architectural
decorations of an Old Christian church dating from the 6th century are
preserved by the wall of the Church of Saint John (the 16th century).
There is the citadel of the family Marjanović from 1772 with its
specific sundial. There are also interesting houses of the
Natali-Božičević family (the 16th century) and Definis (a collection of
furniture and art works).
Guests can also enjoy an abundant
sports-recreation program: free climbing, windsurfing, and fitness
center; and for those who are more adventurous the area around cape
Gomilica is apt for spear-fishing.
