Bol
is the oldest town on Brac, and is the only coastal settlement on the
south coast of the island, located at the foot of the highest peak
Vidova gora (778 meters). Bol is also the biggest tourist resort of the
island, characterized by its interesting monuments and beautiful
nature. It is especially famous for its wonderful beach Zlatni Rat.
That same pebbled cape is a unique phenomenon, about half a kilometer
long and surrounded by clean, transparent sea. It looks like a long,
white tongue, it changes its shape according to the wind and the waves.
It is really attractive for windsurfers and water sport lovers.
Guests
coming to Bol will enjoy its marvelous beauty, pristine beaches,
numerous promenades, clean sea, numerous restaurants, and good
entertainment.
Sport and recreation lovers can find numerous
tennis courts, a tennis stadium where top tennis competitions are held
(WTA Croatian Bol Ladies Open), as well as excellent water surfing
conditions and other water sports, bowling, five-a-side football,
basketball and volleyball. Diving, spear-fishing and hang-gliding
courses which are organized from Vidova Gora.
Bol has a rich
cultural life full of entertaining venues. An interesting example is
the festivity of Our Lady of Snow (Gospe od Sniga) that takes place on
August 5th. It is a local festivity celebrated in remembrance of the
day when, according to the legend, it was snowing in Bol on that day.
During the season, excursions are organized every day (Split, Makarska, Dubrovnik, Hvar, Jelsa, Vrboska, Mljet, and Međugorje).
An excursion to Vidova gora is
very attractive, there you can enjoy a beautiful view and indulge in
some of the food specialties (prosciutto ham, cheese, lamb, wine) in a
konoba (tavern) on the highest insular mountain in Croatia.
Not far from Bol there is of the most beautiful popular resorts – Desert Blaca. West of Bol, above the village Murvica in Dragon's Cave, visitors can find a stone carved high-relief of a dragon and some other cult figures, dating form the 15th century.
Bol
is connected to Split by catamarans and by ferryboat services via
Supetar, and it is situated just 15 kilometers from the international
airport for small planes.
